Adrian Kelly

I am a PhD student at the Centre for mathematical Plasma Astrophysics (CmPA), KU Leuven, supervised by Prof. Rony Keppens.

My research centres on the multithermal structure of the solar corona and how it gives rise to fine-scale features such as coronal rain, prominence threads, and loop strands. I’m also interested in MHD spectral theory and GPU-accelerated, shock-capturing AMR schemes for astrophysical fluid dynamics.

I am an active developer of two open-source codes:

  • AGILE — a GPU-accelerated adaptive-mesh MHD code built on MPI-AMRVAC.
  • Legolas — a finite-element code for linear MHD spectroscopy, used to compute eigenvalues and eigenmodes of magnetised plasma equilibria.
